Fabric Flowers & Feather Fascinators, Sat 28 July 2012

£145.00

Course summary  Learn how to make bespoke fabric flower and  feather fascinators in a day - perfect for modern brides, for Ascot or special occasions (we're going to wear ours while we do the ironing...)

Dates & times  This is a one-day course, running from 11:00hrs to 16:00hrs. During the morning session (11:00hrs to 13:00hrs) you will learn to make bespoke fabric flowers, made from gorgeous organza or satin. Then, during the afternoon session, from 13:30hrs – 16:00hrs, you'll learn how to make feather fascinators, and how to assemble your flowers and feathers onto a band or comb.

Who can take this course?  This is open to anyone. Both men and women are welcome.  Ideally, you should have some very basic sewing skills.

Why should I take the course?  You'll learn how to design and make a bespoke fascinator, whether it be for a special occasion, or just to enhance your crafting skills.

What will I learn?  In the morning of this workshop, you will learn how to make two flowers.  The first project is to make a simple satin flower. The second project is a layered organza flower, which can be embellished if you wish. The afternoon will cover how to make a feather fascinator, using millinery wire and hackle, coque or spiky goose feathers. The final part of the afternoon will be spent putting it all together, in either an all-in-one creation or separately.  The tutor will be on hand to help with design and guide your making, and you will leave the workshop with a completed one-of-a-kind fascinator - how great is that?

What will I make?  You will make at least two flowers and one feather fascinator. These will either be on a comb or hairband.

Do I get to keep what I make?  Absolutely.  Find the Sussex Jewellery School on Facebook to see more items made by students on this course.

Are materials included?  Yes, basic materials are included, and extra materials (if needed) will be available to purchase on the day.

How many other students will there be?  This course is taught in a small group, to plenty of individual tutor attention - places on this course are up to a maximum of seven students.
